cPanel License Price in 2026: What It Really Costs (and How to Pay Less)
cPanel raised its prices again for 2026. If you run your own VPS or dedicated server, the control panel can now cost more than the server underneath it. That hurts, especially for small hosts in India and freelancers running a handful of client sites.
In this guide you’ll see the exact 2026 cPanel tiers, how accounts are counted, what a dedicated server really pays, and a much cheaper shared licence from $4.84/mo (all fees included), with a simple three-step buying walkthrough.

cPanel licence price in short
cPanel’s own 2026 prices are $29.99/mo (1 account), $35.99 (up to 5), $53.99 (up to 30) and $69.99 (up to 100, then $0.49 per extra account). Dedicated servers can only use the $69.99 Premier tier. Shared licences like ShoHost’s start at $4.84/mo for a VPS and $6.05/mo for a dedicated server, all fees included. See cPanel licence prices (from $4.84/mo).

| Pro | Up to 30 | $53.99 | $593.49 | VPS (Cloud) only |
| Premier | Up to 100, then $0.49 each | $69.99 | Monthly only | VPS or dedicated |
Annual billing is only offered on Solo, Admin and Pro. Premier is billed monthly.

How much did prices go up?
The new prices took effect on 16 Dec 2025 for new licences and 1 Jan 2026 for existing ones, according to HostingAdvice.
| Tier | 2025 | 2026 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo | $27.99 | $29.99 | +$2.00 |
| Admin | $34.74 | $35.99 | +$1.25 |
| Pro | $49.24 | $53.99 | +$4.75 |
| Premier | $67.49 | $69.99 | +$2.50 |
| Extra account | $0.44 | $0.49 | +$0.05 |
How cPanel counts accounts (and why your bill grows)
On a vendor licence, every cPanel user account counts towards your tier, and WHM reseller accounts count too. The good news: only the server’s main public IPv4 needs a licence. Extra IPs don’t (cPanel pricing page).
Example: 150 accounts on Premier
Example calculation: a server with 150 accounts on Premier pays $69.99 + 50 × $0.49 = $94.49 a month. That’s about $0.63 per account, before VAT.
Dedicated servers start at $69.99
Solo, Admin and Pro are Cloud (VPS) licences only. A dedicated (“Metal”) server can only use Premier, so the vendor floor for a dedicated box is $69.99 a month, even with just a few accounts (cPanel’s Store licence tiers article).
What is a shared cPanel licence?
A shared cPanel licence is one that ShoHost provides for your server’s IP address. You manage it from ShoHost’s client area instead of buying it in your own name from cPanel. You still get the same WHM and cPanel on your server, with Softaculous, SitePad and free SSL included.
To be clear and honest: ShoHost is not cPanel and isn’t affiliated with cPanel. We sell shared licences. If you need a licence in your own name, buy it directly from the cPanel Store.

cPanel licence price comparison: vendor vs ShoHost shared
| Your server | cPanel vendor price | ShoHost shared licence |
|---|---|---|
| VPS, 1 account | Solo $29.99/mo | VPS $4.84/mo |
| VPS, 30 accounts | Pro $53.99/mo | VPS $4.84/mo |
| Dedicated, 100 accounts | Premier $69.99/mo | Dedicated $6.05/mo |
| VPS, yearly | Solo $329.49/yr | VPS $52.28/yr |
ShoHost’s store lists unlimited accounts on these licences. Example saving: a 30-account VPS on Pro at $53.99 vs a shared licence at $4.84 (all fees included) works out to about $49.15 a month less. Prices change, so check both pages on the day you buy. Prices show in USD, and you can pay in rupees (₹ INR) at checkout.

RC vs GB: which ShoHost tier should you pick?
Both tiers cost the same: $4.84/mo on a VPS and $6.05/mo on a dedicated server ($52.28 and $65.34 a year), all fees included.
- RC: core features (free SSL, Softaculous, SitePad) and standard support for installation help and minor server fixes.
- GB: everything in RC plus JetBackup, and priority support for critical issues.
Want more bundled extensions? Full Combo options start at $15.11 (RC), $16.34 (Full Combo + JetBackup, RC), $16.94 (VPS Full Combo, GB) and $18.15 (Dedicated Full Combo, GB) a month, all fees included. Check the exact bundle on the cPanel licence store before you order.

How to buy and activate a cPanel licence (3 steps)
Step 1: Find your server type and main IP
Your server type (VPS or dedicated) decides which licence card to pick, and your main public IPv4 is what gets licensed. Log in to your server as root over SSH and run:
hostname -I
curl -4 ifconfig.me
In the output, the second command prints a single public IPv4 address. That’s the IP to use when ordering. Your hosting provider’s panel also tells you whether it’s a VPS or dedicated server, and WHM shows the server info if cPanel is already installed.
Step 2: Order the licence with your server IP
Open the cPanel licence store and pick your card: VPS RC, VPS GB, Dedicated RC or Dedicated GB. On the configure page, enter your server’s main IP and choose a billing cycle. Set the currency to INR if you want to pay in rupees, then check the order summary before paying.

Step 3: Activate and verify
Once the order is active, refresh the licence on your server as root:
/usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt
When it works, the command finishes with a success message. Then open WHM and confirm the licence status shows as active.

Run cPanel on your VPS for $4.84/mo, all fees included.
Which option fits your situation?
A freelancer with one VPS and a few client sites: the vendor’s Solo or Admin tier will feel expensive for so few accounts. A shared VPS licence at $4.84/mo (all fees included) keeps the panel cost tiny, so more of what clients pay you stays with you.
A small Indian host with a dedicated server: the vendor floor is Premier at $69.99/mo, even before you hit 100 accounts. A shared dedicated licence at $6.05/mo (all fees included), paid in rupees, makes the numbers far easier, and the GB tier adds JetBackup at no extra cost.
A company that needs the licence in its own name: buy from the cPanel Store. It costs more, but it’s the right choice if your contracts or auditors require a vendor licence.
Before you buy: requirements checklist
- A supported OS: AlmaLinux, CloudLinux, Rocky Linux or Ubuntu (check the cPanel system requirements for your version)
- Root access and a static public IPv4
- A fresh server for a new install
- Not sure about your build? Message WhatsApp support on +91 94880 91432 before ordering
Don’t want to manage a server at all? Reseller hosting gives you WHM and cPanel without running your own box. Need a server first? See our dedicated servers.
cPanel vs DirectAdmin vs Plesk on price
ShoHost’s shared licences start at $4.84 for cPanel, $3.63 for DirectAdmin and $2.42 for Plesk (Linux) a month, all fees included. cPanel suits hosts whose clients expect the familiar cPanel. DirectAdmin is lighter and cheaper for smaller servers. Plesk fits people who like its interface or run mixed stacks.

Do reseller accounts count toward the limit?
Yes. On vendor licences, WHM reseller accounts count as accounts.
Is a shared licence the same as buying from cPanel?
No. It’s provided by ShoHost for your server IP and managed from ShoHost’s client area. ShoHost isn’t cPanel and isn’t affiliated with it.
Can I pay in rupees?
Yes. Prices show in USD; you can pay in ₹ INR at checkout and the invoice shows the INR amount. For example, the VPS licence showed ₹459.63 due today in the cart, with all fees included (example, 17 Oct 2026; prices follow license.shohost.com).

Yes. Request an IP change from the ShoHost client area.
