Plesk vs cPanel Licence Cost in 2026: Real Prices Compared
Plesk or cPanel? For most server owners the real question is simpler: which one costs less for my server? Both raised prices for 2026, and they charge in completely different ways. cPanel counts accounts. Plesk sells editions by the number of domains on each server. Pick the wrong one and you could pay three times more than you need to.
This guide puts the 2026 list prices side by side, works through real examples for a small VPS and a busy dedicated server, shows what a shared licence costs in rupees, and walks you through ordering one in three steps.

Plesk vs cPanel license cost at a glance
- Plesk (vendor, 2026): $16.99/mo for up to 10 domains, $29.99 for up to 30, and $62.99 (VPS) or $69.99 (dedicated) for unlimited domains.

What is a shared Plesk licence?
A shared Plesk licence is one ShoHost provides for your server’s IP address. You order and manage it from the ShoHost client area instead of buying it in your own name from Plesk. To be clear: ShoHost is not Plesk or cPanel. If your contracts need a licence in your own name, buy it from the vendor’s store.
| Store card | Price | OS | Support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plesk License (VPS – LINUX – RC) | $2.42/mo | Linux only | Standard |
| Plesk VPS (windows and linux) – GB | $2.42/mo | Windows and Linux | Priority |
| Plesk License (DEDICATED – LINUX – RC) | $3.63/mo | Linux only | Standard |
| Plesk License (Dedicated – windows and linux – GB) | $3.63/mo | Windows and Linux | Priority |
How to buy and activate a Plesk licence (3 steps)
Step 1: Check your server type, OS and main IP
Your server type (VPS or dedicated) and OS decide which card you pick, and your main public IPv4 is what gets licensed. Log in to your Linux server as root over SSH and run:
hostname -I
curl -4 ifconfig.me
cat /etc/os-release
systemd-detect-virt
In the output, curl prints one public IPv4 address (use it when ordering), os-release shows your OS name and version, and systemd-detect-virt prints a virtualisation type such as kvm on a VPS or none on a dedicated server. On Windows Server, open PowerShell and run:
Invoke-RestMethod https://ifconfig.me/ip
Step 2: Order the licence with your server IP
- Open the Plesk licence store and click Order Now on the card that matches your server: VPS Linux RC, VPS Windows and Linux GB, Dedicated Linux RC or Dedicated Windows and Linux GB.
- On the configure page, type your server’s main IP in the IP * field and choose a billing cycle.
- Set the currency to INR if you want to pay in rupees, then check the order summary before you pay.

Step 3: Activate and verify
Once the order is active, follow the activation details shown for your order in the ShoHost client area. ShoHost’s Plesk page lists this activation command, run as root (on Windows, use an administrator command prompt):
plesk bin license -i YOUR_KEY
Replace YOUR_KEY with the key for your order. Then check the licence with Plesk’s own commands:
plesk bin license -c; echo $?
plesk bin license --retrieve
When it works, the check prints 0 when the installed key is valid. In Plesk, go to Tools & Settings > License Information to see the active licence. Plesk talks to its licensing server over TCP port 443, so keep that port open outbound.

Moving to a new server later? Request an IP change from the ShoHost client area. Stuck at any step? WhatsApp support on +91 94880 91432.

| Clients who expect cPanel, or you sell WHM reseller accounts | cPanel | Familiar panel; shared cPanel is $4.84/mo on a VPS, all fees included |
| Small Indian host on a dedicated server | Either | Shared licences cost ₹344.72 (Plesk) or ₹574.53 (cPanel) a month all-in |
| You need the licence in your own name | Vendor store | Costs more, but it’s the right choice for strict contracts |
Prefer a lighter Linux panel? See the DirectAdmin licence. Don’t want to run a server at all? Reseller hosting gives you WHM and cPanel without managing your own box, and our reseller hosting India guide explains how it works.
