Reseller Hosting in India: The Complete 2026 Guide to Starting Your Own Hosting Business
You already build websites for clients. So why send the hosting money to someone else every year? With reseller hosting, you can sell hosting under your own brand, keep the client relationship and add a steady monthly income line to your business, without buying a single server.
In this guide you’ll learn what reseller hosting is, what it really costs in India, how to set it up step by step, and how to pick the right plan.

The short version
Reseller hosting lets you sell cPanel hosting under your own brand without owning servers. In India it starts at about ₹250 a month for 30 client accounts. You get WHM to create accounts and packages, and the host runs the hardware. See ShoHost reseller plans (from ₹250/mo).
What is reseller hosting and how does it work?
You, your clients and the host
You buy a block of hosting from a provider like ShoHost, split it into cPanel accounts and sell those accounts to your clients. ShoHost runs the servers, network and hardware. You set your packages and prices, and you look after your clients. ShoHost looks after you.
WHM vs cPanel in one line each
WHM is your control room: create, suspend and upgrade client accounts. cPanel is what each client gets: their own panel for websites, email, files and databases.
White label: your brand, not ours
Your clients see your brand and your own private nameservers, not ShoHost. To them, you are the hosting company.
Who should start with reseller hosting (and who shouldn’t)
Good fit: freelancers and web designers, digital agencies, IT service shops, small hosting startups, and global resellers who like paying in rupees.
Not a fit: if you only have one personal website, a regular hosting plan is simpler. And if you don’t want to support clients at all, our affiliate programme lets you refer customers instead.
How much does reseller hosting cost in India?
Here are ShoHost’s reseller plans. All include unlimited NVMe SSD storage, unlimited websites and email, WHM plus cPanel for every client, free SSL, Softaculous and a 98.5% uptime guarantee.
| Plan | Monthly billing | cPanel accounts |
|---|---|---|
| RH-1 | ₹250/mo | 30 |
| RH-2 | ₹399/mo | 60 |
| RH-3 | ₹999/mo | Unlimited |

Longer billing cycles: annual and multi-year billing are available at checkout. Check the reseller hosting page for the current discount before you order.
Do the maths and on monthly billing RH-1 works out to about ₹8.3 per cPanel account per month, and RH-2 about ₹6.7. Example price, set your own: if you charged a small-business client ₹1,500 a year for a starter website package, that one account would cover half of RH-1’s yearly cost. Your real prices depend on your market and the service you add.
Extras to budget for: your own domain, and WHMCS if you want automated billing (WHMCS is sold separately). Prefer to pay once? Lifetime reseller hosting (LRH-1) is a one-time payment of ₹54,000. Our guide lifetime hosting explained covers the risks and value honestly.
How to start a reseller hosting business in India: step by step
Step 1: Choose and order your plan
Most people start with RH-1. Order RH-1, choose Use Own Domain for your brand domain, then pick your billing cycle from the radio cards. Global resellers can switch the currency to USD or EUR at the top of the cart. A 3% payment fee is added at checkout, so check the order summary before paying.

Step 2: Set your brand nameservers
Private nameservers (like ns1.yourbrand.com) are what make your hosting look fully yours. In WHM, the host sets each reseller’s default nameservers, so this is done with support after your account is provisioned. Just message WhatsApp support on +91 94880 91432 with your brand domain.

Step 3: Build your hosting packages in WHM
Packages turn one plan into products you can sell. In WHM > Packages > Add a Package, give it a name (for example “Starter-5GB”), set disk quota, bandwidth and email limits, and click Add. Create two or three, such as Starter, Business and Pro.
At this point the package appears in WHM > Packages > Edit a Package.
Step 4: Create your first client account
In WHM > Account Functions > Create a New Account, enter the client’s domain and a username, choose your package and click Create. WHM shows a summary with the domain, username and package. Send those login details to your client.
Step 5: Manage, suspend and upgrade clients
Everything lives in WHM. List Accounts shows every client. Manage Account Suspension pauses an account when an invoice is unpaid. Upgrade/Downgrade an Account moves a client to a bigger package as their site grows.
Step 6: Set up billing (manual first, WHMCS later)
With a handful of clients, simple invoices and UPI payments work fine. Once you grow, a billing system like WHMCS automates invoices, reminders and suspensions. WHMCS is not included with reseller plans and is sold separately. See our WHMCS modules for add-ons.

Reseller vs master reseller vs alpha reseller
| Type | Starts at | What you can create |
|---|---|---|
| Reseller (RH-1) | ₹250/mo | cPanel accounts |
| Master reseller (MRH-1) | ₹777/mo | cPanel accounts + reseller (WHM) accounts |
| Alpha reseller (ARH-1) | ₹888/mo | cPanel, reseller and master reseller accounts |
Start with reseller hosting. Move to master reseller when you want to sell reseller accounts, or alpha reseller to sell master accounts. If you eventually want your own server, look at a dedicated server.

Business basics for Indian resellers
Pick a simple brand name and domain. And set clear support boundaries: you support your clients, and ShoHost supports you.
Common mistakes new resellers make
Competing only on price. Someone will always be cheaper. Bundle hosting with what you already do well, such as website maintenance, updates or a local-language support promise, and charge for the value.
Skipping backups. Don’t rely on anyone else’s backup schedule. Teach clients to use Backup Wizard, and take your own full cPanel backups of important sites regularly.
Overselling one package. Give each client a package that fits their site. A big online store on a tiny Starter package will hit limits and blame you, so upgrade them early.
No written terms. Write a one-page agreement covering price, renewal date, what support you offer and what happens if an invoice is unpaid. It saves awkward conversations later.
Starting too big. You don’t need RH-3 on day one. Start with RH-1, sign your first few clients from people you already know, and upgrade when you get close to 30 accounts.
FAQs
Is reseller hosting profitable in India?
It can be. RH-1 works out to about ₹8 per account per month and you set your own prices. Profit depends on how many clients you sign and keep, so there are no guarantees.
Do I need technical skills?
Only basic ones. WHM handles account creation, ShoHost runs the server, and you get WhatsApp support on +91 94880 91432.
Can I use my own brand?
Yes. Clients see your brand and private nameservers, not ShoHost.
Is WHMCS included?
No. It’s sold separately (WHMCS licence). You can start with manual billing.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes, to RH-2, RH-3, master or alpha reseller as you grow.
Is migration free?
Yes. Unlimited free website migration, within your plan’s limits.
What if it’s not for me?
Hosting plans have a 7-day refund on eligible orders. Software licences, such as WHMCS, are non-refundable.
Start small, grow as clients come
Start with RH-1, grow into RH-3 or master reseller when the clients come. You keep the brand, the relationships and the income.
